Every figure on this page is computed from the inputs you enter, by the method stated below it. The only constants HeadcountDesk supplies are the published federal payroll tax rates and the overtime multiplier, each cited where it is used. The defaults are a worked example to replace with your own.
Work from home guidelines for employees are a handbook section, acknowledged, not a memo: the hours and the availability expected, how time is recorded for non-exempt staff, the equipment issued and its return, the data and security rules, the expenses the employer covers, the workspace and safety expectations, and how performance is reviewed when nobody sees the work in passing. The onboarding checklist on this site records the equipment issued, free; the handbook template writes the section; HeadcountDesk Pro keeps both against the employee.

Hours, availability, time recording
Core hours, the response expectation, and for non-exempt staff the daily timesheet with breaks deducted and overtime split. The free pto and overtime calculator on this site does the arithmetic; the guidelines say it is required.
Equipment and security
What is issued, recorded against the employee for the return, locked and encrypted, used for work only; customer data stays in its system. The equipment line is on the free onboarding checklist on this site.
Expenses and the workspace
What the employer pays for, how it is claimed, and the safety expectation for the workspace. In writing, so it is the same for everyone.
Reviews at a distance
Goals written and weighted, outcomes recorded, reviews scored from the record, check-ins more often than in the office. The free review template on this site scores them; the free employee handbook template on this site writes the section. From the vendors' own pricing pages: Homebase lists Essentials at $24 per location per month billed annually or $30 monthly, with a free Basic plan for one location of up to ten employees; BambooHR lists Core at $10 and Pro at $17 per employee per month; Deputy lists Core at $6.50 per user per month. HeadcountDesk Pro is $24 a month per location.
