When an employee quits without notice, the employer's job is the offboarding checklist run fast: access revoked the same day, the final pay calculated with the PTO payout the policy or the state requires and paid by the state's deadline, the equipment recovered against the issue record, the team and the customers told the fact and the cover, the file closed with the date and the reason as the employee gave it. The onboarding checklist on this site recorded the equipment issued, free; HeadcountDesk Pro runs the leaving list from it.

The same day
Access revoked, the team told the fact and the cover, customers told where the person was their contact. The offboarding checklist carries the sequence; Pro produces it from the employee's record.
Final pay
Hours worked to the last day from the timesheets, the PTO payout the policy or the state requires from the balance on record, paid by the state's deadline for a resignation. The free pto and overtime calculator on this site totals the last period.
The equipment
The issue record from onboarding says what is out; the return request goes with a prepaid box and a deadline; the handbook says what happens if it does not come back.
The file
Closed with the date, the notice given or not, the reason as stated, the final pay and the equipment status, retained for its period. From the vendors' own pricing pages: Homebase lists Essentials at $24 per location per month billed annually or $30 monthly, with a free Basic plan for one location of up to ten employees; BambooHR lists Core at $10 and Pro at $17 per employee per month; Deputy lists Core at $6.50 per user per month. HeadcountDesk Pro is $24 a month per location.
Employee quit without notice: common questions
Do I have to pay out PTO to someone who quit without notice?
Where the state or the handbook requires it, yes; the notice given does not change the accrued balance.
Can I withhold final pay until equipment is returned?
Generally no; final pay has a state deadline. Recover the equipment separately under the handbook's rule.
Is the onboarding checklist free?
Yes, with no account. Pro runs the leaving list from the record.
